Story of Keelung 2015
耕耘基隆的第三年，
將延續2014年製作「土地計畫」的精神，
站在歷史洪流不斷沖散記憶的狂潮上，
去尋找屬於基隆的原始樣貌。
這次， 我們要離開黑盒子，
走入你我日常的生活裡， 說這些屬於基隆在地的故事。
承載台灣歷史浪潮的海港，
群山環繞，房屋依勢而蓋的山城。
來自平埔族凱達格蘭人Ketagalan的自稱，
─Ke-lâng，雞籠，基地昌隆。
Three years into our art-promoting long stay in Keelung, One Player Short
Ensemble will carry on the core values of the “The Land Project” from last year,
standing on the wild, memory-scouring tide of history and seeking to unearth the
most primitive look of Keelung.
This time, we will leave behind experimental theaters, walk with common folks
like you and me, and present to you the stories of Keelung.
Not only is Keelung a harbor city that has witnessed the ups and downs of
Taiwan, but it is also a city surrounded by mountains and established on
hillsides. The name comes from the Ketagalan people, one of Taiwan’s many
plain indigenous peoples, and is how they used to call themselve: Ke-lâng,
Rooster Cage, or the Prosperous Base.

南榮路73號
魏齒科，在1970-1990年代的基隆，
是地方上最知名的牙科診所，老老少少都指名找魏醫師看診。
在那時，台灣的黨外運動正風起雲湧，
魏醫師也在這股浪潮中，因而成為當時基隆地方上知名的人物。
但到現今，這些歷史從未被記載。
南榮路73號，則是魏齒科的源起所在。
No.73, Nanrong Road
Wei’s Dental Clinic had been the most famous dental clinic in Keelung throughout the 1970s to the 1990s. Everyone, old and young alike, all wished to have Dr. Wei as their dentist.
At that time, the Tangwai movement was raging like a storm in Taiwan, and Dr. Wei also became one of the local celebrities during this time. His story, however, has never made it into history books.
No.73, Nanrong Road is where Wei’s Dental Clinic was located and where it all began.

他把自己塞進衣櫃裡，像一件衣服。衣服，慢慢地，一件一件地掉出來。
他把衣服塞進衣櫃裡，房間好大。房間裡，一個人也沒有。
是人的記憶生了癌，忘不了，所以無法痊癒。記起了，卻又無法處置。遺棄繼續發生。

He squeezes himself into a closet, like an article of clothing. One by one, clothes fall out of the closet.
He squeezes them back into the closet. It is a big, yet empty bedroom. No one seems to be around.
The fault of human’s memory makes certain things unforgettable. If they cannot be forgotten, they cannot be healed. When they surface, there is no way to cope with them. This is why abandonment keeps on taking place.

無論開得是軍艦渡輪或計程車，無論從事遠洋捕魚、山區採礦、填海開墾或港口邊開起一攤又一攤的小吃，甚至是因港而生的卡拉OK、舞廳、酒吧，隨便抓起一個基隆人的手，幾乎就可以看出他的生命圖像。

You can glimpse into the life story of a Keelung person through their hands. From piloting warships and ferries as well as driving taxis, to going on deep sea fishing, mining, land reclamation, and setting up food stands along the harbor, or even running karaoke restaurants, clubs, and bars for people working at the harbor, there are a myriad of fascinating stories.

在這個地方，我們很容易就被關住。
就像她一樣，永遠不面對自己，不面對內心。
如果基隆是一個鳥籠，她就在這鳥籠中，不清楚自己身在何方，找不到自己的出口，她和他們就這樣被關住，到底是為什麼？她和他們又為何在這裡？真正的答案又什麼？彼此心中，模糊的是自己還是他們？

It is easy for one to get stuck in a place like this. She, for example, is stuck here as she never confronts her true self nor listens to her inner voice.
If Keelung were a bird-cage, she would be right inside this cage, not knowing where she was and could not find a way out. She, as well as the other people, are all stuck in this place, but why? Why are they here? What is the one true answer? Whose image in their mind is “ambiguous”? Theirs, or hers?
