LAB計畫開啟於2011年，是一個屬於三缺一劇團探索身體美學的空間。

有鑑於台灣劇場環境一直處在短時間製造作品，演員到處接案，市場小卻又快速消耗的情況下，作品以及演員都沒有足夠的時間空間去滋長並消化，因而希望反其道而行，在團內創造出屬於自己的慢空間，希望能用更長的時間去換取實驗與失敗的空間。

LAB計畫的第一個主題是《動物轉化》，從古老的武術、瑜珈和宗教儀式切入，提煉出強大而有趣的動物靈魂，進一步讓動物成為通道，開啟了個人通往社會和集體潛意識之間的對話。

The LAB Project, first started in 2011, provides One Player Short Ensemble with a laboratorial space to explore their body aesthetics.

Theater workers in Taiwan have long been forced to produce in very limited period of time, and the fact they need to work on every case possible in this small and fast-consuming market means that they are often deprived of the time to grow professionally and to fully engage in their own works. One Player Short Ensemble, therefore, hopes to reverse the current situation by creating a “laboratory” of their own, allowing members to work at their own pace and giving them more time and freedom for trials and errors. 

The first part of the LAB Project is “Animal Becoming”, which involves extracting the powerful and fascinating spiritual essences from different animals through ancient martial arts, yoga, and religious rituals, and using such spiritual essences as a medium to converse with the collective subconsciousness of the whole society.
