The Land Project
The Land Project was first launched in 2013 after the head of the ensemble, Hsiang-Yi Ho, and the artistic director, Chun-Chan Wei, traveled around Taiwan on foot. While traveling, they witnessed many fascinating things and sceneries and met many interesting people, which then encouraged them to conduct field research to gather biographical notes of local residents, folktales, and even land issues. They hope to act as ancient storytellers who collect tales and stories and who transform those into theatrical productions, releasing the power of these stories by resonating them with the audience and constantly posing questions such as “Who am I?”, “Why am I here?” and “Why am I living this way here?”
First part of the Land Project was performed in 2014.
Telling stories about contaminated oysters in fishing villages in western Taiwan and depicting the folktales of Zhuoshui River, where local residents are deprived of their faith in the River God, One Player Short Ensemble presents two theatrical productions — The Angry Oysters and Come back from River, both of which are rather interesting contemporary fables and myths.
